Running SlowGold under Windows Vista
The "Happy Path"
It's best to follow these steps in order
before you start SlowGold
for the very first time. However, don't worry if it's too late for that and
you've already encountered some errors - in that case, first uninstall
SlowGold (from the Control Panel), and then follow the instructions below.
- Download and save the installer from
here.

- Run the installer, answering yes to all permission
prompts.

- Open the Windows Explorer, and navigate to the
SlowGold folder:

- Right-click the SlowGold file name and select
Properties from the pop-up menu. When the Properties window comes up, select
the Compatibility tab and set the program to run in XP SP2
compatibility mode, as an administrator, as shown in the highlighted
areas below.

- In most cases, you will then be able to run
SlowGold from the Start menu. During SlowGold's first run, it performs
some one-time post-setup operations that usually will require that you
restart the system.
- Once you're in SlowGold, check that Recording is set
to digital for best results:
- Click Settings in SlowGold's menu

- Click the Recording tab. It will probably look like
either A or B below:
-

If this is what the Recording Options look like (in
particular, if Digital is selected), you're all set and should be
able to use SlowGold.
-

If this is the case, you should click the button to
Install drivers, follow the instructions, and then come back here to make
sure that Digital is selected.
